The gap in this discussion is between thriving of the ecosystems and thriving of humans. These two are incompatible. I support VHEMT.
Life is defined by death, and behaviour is defined by risk. We humans have banned death. (banned in the sense of socially prohibited, dissed). We have banned death of infants, we have banned death of elderly, we have banned death of the unfit.
Eventually all human death will be illegal, and all our public funds will go to eternal life extension.
There must be an off ramp for the preservation of ecosystems.

The off-ramp was 0.2 billion people.
